Apply to Be a mentor
Why?
Being involved in the KP Peer Mentoring Program is extremely fun! It is a great opportunity to make new friends and learn more about your peers. By being a mentor, students learn leadership and communication skills. Our hope is to that everyone involved will bring positivity to the program.
Who?
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors can all participate in the program as mentors. Students from KP can apply to be a mentor as early as the end of their Freshman year.
When?
Applications for new mentors will be available towards the end of the school year in April or May. Those who wish to continue be a mentor, can find recommitment forms during the same time.
Where?
Applications and recommitment forms can be found outside Mrs. Halloway's classroom (135).
Qualities of a mentor
Mentors are role models to their mentees who show kindness and acceptance. You must take the responsibility of connecting with your mentee throughout the school year by talking to them at monthly socials, cheering them on at unified sports games, and being a friend to them on field trips. It is crucial that you visit your mentee as much as you can: sitting with them at lunch, talk with them before homeroom, see them during their study halls, applied strategies classes, or gym classes. The goal is to create a good relationship between you and your mentee as well as strengthen their social skills.
